chicagoland is a collection of vignettes written in the same form as [Lucy laughs.] with the same intention of being printed as a book and then adapted to the screen one day. Beginning in August 2019 and ending in July of 2020, this work will document the passage of time through personifying the months of the year. In this piece of writing, we see Lucy sit across from August at a dark dive bar one day and Lucy smoking a cigarette with October another day. What does it mean to reflect on the year in such a way? I suppose we shall see.
